Narrow paths that seem to be created in order to lead off towards adventure. Pointed dark pine trees that hide a whole magical world from the sun's rays under their wide crowns. It is here in the Black Forest that you can feel like the hero of a real fairy tale. Was it the sound of the hammers of the dwarfs in front? The Black Forest is a place where fiction becomes all too real.

Where is the Black Forest

In the southwestern part of Germany, in a place called Baden-Württemberg, there is one of the most beautiful and most famous forests on the planet - the Black Forest. Translated from German, it means "Black Forest".

The place received such a mystical name, thanks to a special type of pine trees, which have a very dark bark color and grow as close to each other as possible. The Romans, who first appeared under their crowns, could not get rid of the impression that the forest was filled with spirits. However, since then, the Black Forest has not ceased to conquer and amaze a variety of people.

Unique landscape

Despite the ominous name, the Black Forest is rich in abundance not only in beautiful woodland, but also on slopes strewn with flowers, small farmlands. There are beautiful lakes, noisy waterfalls and peaked mountains here. All this together creates a unique landscape that attracts tourists with its comfort and fabulousness.

Walking along the path between tall pines, you cannot shake off the impression that a hunched old woman is about to come out of the thicket and offer you to eat a magic apple. Or that a little girl in a red cap with a basket of fragrant pies will seem to meet you. Having visited the Black Forest, you never stop thinking about the fact that all children's fairy tales could actually happen here.

Schwarzwald - a source of inspiration

Over the centuries, the Black Forest, with its mighty dark forests, has inspired and amazed many famous personalities. It all started with the soldiers of the Eighth Roman Legion. When they came to the places of the Germanic tribes of the Marcomans, they immediately noted the extraordinary nature of these lands. They discovered a large number of hot thermal springs, turned them into baths, which later attracted all the Roman nobility.

Many years later, the Black Forest became a favorite place for many famous Russian politicians and cultural figures. People came here to improve their health, gain inspiration, find peace with themselves. Most of all he fell in love with Marina Tsvetaeva, who in several of her poems noted the beauty of these magical lands.

However, the Black Forest became best known precisely thanks to the tales of Hauff and the Grimm brothers. As soon as Wilhelm Hauff breathed in the fresh air of the Black Forest, the magical atmosphere of this place took possession of a part of his heart forever. It is not without reason that Schwarzwald was chosen as the setting for the famous fairy tale "Frozen" and several of his other works.

The Black Forest has forever filled the imagination of the Brothers Grimm after they first set foot on the winding paths of the amazing forest. It is not for nothing that the picturesque places of these regions are the best illustration of almost all of their fairy tales.

The beauties of the area

There is hardly a forest more diverse than the Black Forest. Dense massifs of dark pines abruptly turn into sunny meadows, near which the purest lakes are spread out. Majestic mountains and waterfalls are all found in the Black Forest.

Lovers of conquering the peaks will not be able to ignore the Black Forest mountains. Despite the fact that they are quite low (the highest mountain Feldberg reaches 1493 meters), fabulous views of the entire area open up from their peaks. If you are lucky with the weather, then from Mount Feldberg you will see the beloved Alps and the serene Vosges Valley.

The Black Forest is also beautiful in winter, as there are excellent slopes for skiers. And for those tourists who are not averse to admiring the Black Forest from a height, but do not like extreme types of recreation, there are special wagon trains that take those who wish to the peaks.

Lakes Titise and Schluchsee

The calmness and serenity of the water surface of the water can be felt near the most famous lakes of the Black Forest - Titise and Schluchsee. The first of them, a crystal blue lake, is about two kilometers long and eight hundred meters wide. Its banks, like a wonderful carpet, are covered with soft tender greenery. Here you can swim, relaxing on the golden sandbanks, boating, fishing, and in winter - feel like a real figure skating star.

Schluchsee is the deepest lake in Germany, the beauty of which is not inferior to many other famous places. According to old legends, an ancient and once rich city rests at the bottom of this lake, which paid for the sins of its inhabitants and was forever hidden under the purest blue waters. Numerous walking and cycling paths lead to these places. And frequent pointers will not let even the most desperate tourist get lost.

Triberg Falls and All Saints Falls

Another natural attraction in the Black Forest is the Triberg Falls and All Saints Falls. Powerful water masses with tremendous speed fall down from a height of more than 150 meters, scattering splashes shining in the sun in different directions. The Black Forest authorities specially illuminated the waterfalls at night so that tourists can feel the romance of the place at any time of the day.

In addition, the most famous river in Europe, the Danube, originates in the mountain rivers of the Black Forest. Surprisingly, the Black Forest is exactly the place from which any tourist, regardless of his preferences, will take the breath away.

The Black Forest is an extraordinary and mesmerizing place. Tall dark pine trees prevent sunlight from entering the forest, which is why it is filled with special colors. The silence and amazing tranquility of the Black Forest continue to captivate tourists from all over the world to this day. This place helps to forget about reality for a while, making oneself feel like a hero of one of the famous fairy tales.
