Louvre

Louvre pyramid

On the initiative of the French president, in 1985 the Grand Louvre project was launched. It was conceived for the Louvre to become the largest museum on the planet. Within the framework of this program, a competitive selection was held for the design of the entrance group. Y. Ming Pei won this competition. The American proposed to combine the characteristic of the Louvre style with modern design. This structure is a glass semblance of the Cheops pyramid, bordered by metal. Arch on Carrusel Square

This arch is located directly behind the Louvre and is part of the Historic Axis of Paris. The arch in Place Carruzel is the next most recognizable one after the one that rises majestically in the Place of the Stars. In addition to them, there are a couple of similar buildings: the period of the reign of Louis XIV and La Defense. Created before our era, the quadriga traveled the world for a long time from one conquering ruler to another. This continued until, in 1917, Napoleon took her away from Venice for the personal Arc de Triomphe. In 1815, the quadriga was returned to Italy, and a replica of the structure in Piazza Carrusel began to be painted.

Tuileries Garden

By order of E. Medici in 1564, simultaneously with her new castle Tuileries, a garden was laid out. It was originally designed in Italian style. However, passing the century, thanks to the main gardener of Louis XIV A. Le Nôtre, the garden has undergone changes. The French laid the foundation for a completely new direction in landscape design - regular parks. The garden's new look was perfect symmetry and proportion. All the planted flora was lined with immaculate lines that form perfect geometric shapes. The green lawns are framed by immaculately straight rows of hedges and filigree-trimmed chestnuts. The flower beds are designed in accordance with the general design of the garden, and the alleys are decorated with beautiful sculptures.

Concorde Square

Today this square is considered one of the most delightful squares in the capital of France. Its center is decorated with the Luxor Obelisk, granted to the French in 1829 by the Viceroy of Egypt. The relic was brought from the temple of Amon-Ra itself and, considering that it is approximately 3600 years old, is the oldest monument in Paris. Its length is 23 meters, and the weight of the obelisk is as much as 230 tons. The pillar is made of pink granite and filled with carved letters praising the pharaohs.

Grand Palace

The Grand Palais is located on the Champs Elysees. Its stylistic architecture amazes with its showiness and elegance, it is an ideal example of the Beaux-Arts style. The appearance of the palace combines two styles at once: the Renaissance and the Baroque. The building is lavishly decorated with statues, columns and reliefs. Nowadays, in addition to the architecture of the Grand Palace itself, there is an opportunity to admire the exhibitions of the Art Gallery, which manages an entire wing on its territory. Alexander III bridge

The bridge stretches over the Seine, connecting the Champs Elysees and the House of Invalids. It was donated to Paris in 1896 by Russian Emperor Nicholas II, and represents the alliance between the Russian state and France. And it got its name from the name of the emperor's father. One edge of the bridge is guarded by the nymph of the Seine, and the opposite edge by the nymph of the Neva, next to which is the coat of arms of St. Petersburg. Also, this building for the crossing is decorated with pegasus, angels and other mythical creatures.

House of the Invalids

The Paris House of Invalids is a luxurious palace with domes made of gold and stucco decorations. It was erected in 1671 with the aim of raising the authority of the military service and clearing the streets of the capital from thousands of homeless people. They could not fully perform their work and therefore, living in poverty, were forced to beg. The first Home for the Invalids in Europe became a salvation for the crippled: it gave them shelter, food, full-fledged care and even a feasible job. This field leads to the most famous landmark in the world - the Eiffel Tower.
